BIOGRAFIA Umberto Verdoliva – Sono nato nel 1961 a Castellammare di Stabia in provincia di Napoli. Vivo a Treviso. Ho amato immediatamente la fotografia di strada, questa consapevolezza nel tempo mi ha spinto ad indagare l’umanità, non solo quella incontrata per caso nelle strade, come se facesse parte delle mie cose più care. Un immenso album di famiglia dove “sconosciuti” e “conosciuti” s’intrecciano tra loro attraverso un filo comune fatto di poesia, speranza, bellezza e memoria. Quel “personale quotidiano” che rappresenta il luogo di tutta la mia ricerca.
Dal 2010 al 2017 sono stato membro del collettivo internazionale “ViVo” e nel 2013 ho fondato “SPONTANEA” un collettivo italiano dedicato alla street photography sciolto nel 2019 che ha lasciato un significativo segno nella comunità street italiana. La fotografia è uno strumento parallelo alla mia vita professionale che utilizzo per entrare in un mondo tutto mio in cui raccontare, sognare, ricaricarmi, stare bene con me stesso e con gli altri. Provo a raccontare attraverso le immagini, tutto ciò che vivo giorno dopo giorno, dalle strade sotto casa, all’ambiente di lavoro, dalla famiglia ai luoghi che frequento, indagando con occhio attento e spero con profonda sensibilità, il mio vissuto per lasciare tracce e memoria anche di altri.
In questi anni ho realizzato numerosi progetti fotografici, ma anche se distinti tutti insieme rappresentano un progetto unico, la mia storia di uomo, il mio pensiero sulla vita. Mi piace, oltre fotografare, trasmettere la passione per l’arte fotografica curando laboratori, mostre, letture di portfolio, presentazioni, scrivere articoli ed approfondimenti sulla fotografia. Molte mie foto e progetti fotografici sono stati pubblicati nelle principali riviste di fotografia e premiate in importanti premi di fotografia italiani e internazionali. Collaboro saltuariamente con la FIAF come lettore di portfolio e con la rivista FOTO IT nella recensione di autori e progetti specifici.
La via della bellezza.
Perché viene spontaneo raccogliere sulla spiaggia del mare le conchiglie e i sassolini più belli ? È lo stesso processo mentale che metto in atto con la fotografia; raccogliere semplici attimi dal quotidiano per conservarli nel tempo con la speranza che qualcun altro veda con i tuoi occhi. Una lunga passeggiata incantato da volti, gesti, forme, luci che attraverso una fotocamera, mi piace trasformare in armonia, fascino, poesia.
La via della bellezza è una questione di sguardi, è il potere degli occhi che tentano di vedere fuori il riflesso di ciò che è dentro per spiegarlo a sé stessi, forse la bellezza come celebrazione della vita dove un pensiero unico e costante sottrae attimi al divenire rendendoli inattaccabili e resistenti al tempo stesso che li ha generati.

BIOGRAPHY Umberto Verdoliva – I was born in 1961 in Castellammare di Stabia, near to Naples. I live in Treviso. I immediately loved street photography, this awareness over time prompted me to investigate humanity, not just the one encountered by chance in the streets, as if it were part of my dearest possessions. An immense family album where “unknown” and “known” intertwine through a common thread made of poetry, hope, beauty and memory. That “everyday personal” which represents the place of all my research.
From 2010 to 2017 I was a member of the international collective “ViVo” and in 2013 I founded “SPONTANEA” an Italian collective dedicated to street photography dissolved in 2019 which has left a significant mark in the Italian street community. Photography is a parallel tool to my professional life that I use to enter a world of my own in which to tell, dream, recharge my batteries, feel good about myself and with others. I try to tell through images everything that I experience day after day, from the streets near the house, to the work environment, from the family to the places you frequent, investigating with a careful eye and hopefully with profound sensitivity, my experience to leave traces and memories of others as well.
In recent years I have created numerous photographic projects, but even if they are all separate together they represent a single project, my story as a man, my thoughts on life. In addition to photographing, I like to convey the passion for photographic art by curating workshops, exhibitions, portfolio readings, presentations, writing articles and insights on photography. Many of my photos and photographic projects have been published in the main photography magazines and awarded in important Italian and international photography awards. He occasionally collaborates with FIAF as portfolio reader and with FOTO IT magazine in the review of authors and specific projects.
“La via della bellezza” – The way of beauty
Why is it natural to collect the most beautiful shells and pebbles on the beach? It is the same mental process that I implement with photography; collect simple moments from everyday life to keep them over time with the hope that someone else will see with your eyes. A long walk enchanted by faces, gestures, shapes, lights that I like to transform through a camera into harmony, charm, poetry.
The way to beauty is a matter of looks, it is the power of the eyes that try to see outside the reflection of what is inside to explain it to themselves, perhaps beauty as a celebration of life where a single and constant thought subtracts moments from becoming, making them unassailable and resistant to the same time that generated them.
